Nella edizione di Marzo 1964 di QST (rivista americana dei radioamatori), venne annunciato, in uno spazio
pubblicitario per la Squires-Sanders, che a breve sarebbe stato disponibile il trasmettitore SS-1T da accoppiare
al ricevitore SS-1R. Ma come molti appassionati di questa casa costruttrice sapranno ciò non avvenne.
Voci di corridoio dicono che "qualche" prototipo (forse uno soltanto) fu costruito ma mai commercializzato per un problema
di progettazione in uno degli stadi del trasmettitore. Il tempo passava ma il problema non veniva risolto,
di conseguenza il progetto venne abbandonato. Che fine hanno fatto quei prototipi? E' mistero.
Qui sotto ci sono le specifiche preliminari del trasmettitore SS-1T e del suo VFO separato, SS-1TF.
Le ho ricopiate da un documento originale Squires-Sanders.

In the March 1964 edition of QST (American radio amateur magazine) it was announced, in an advertizing space
of Squires-Sanders, that soon it would be available the SS-1T transmitter to be coupled to the SS-1R receiver.
But like many enthusiast of this manufacturer know, this did not happen. Rumors say that
"some" prototypes were built (maybe one only) but never marketed due to a design issue in one of the stages of the
transmitter. Time passed but the problem was not resolved, so the project was abandoned.
What happened to these prototypes? It's a mystery. Here below are the preliminary specifications
 of the SS-1T transmitter and its separate VFO, SS-1TF.

SS-1T the matching transmitter for SS-1R Receiver, is designed for transceive mode operation with SS-1R receiver frequency control.
SS-1T will operate at 200 watts PEP input and will embody unusual Squires-Sanders developments which provide operating features not available in similar equipment. For those operators who prefer separate receiver/transmit frequency control, the separate transmit frequency unit (SS-1TF) will be available.


Operates all modes USB, LSB, DSB, AM and CW
SS Booster (SSB Speech Clipper) built in
Continuous operation at rated power
Transistor electronically regulated high (P.A. Plate) voltage supply
Built-in sidetone and test-tone oscillator
Operates transceive mode with SS-1R or independently with SS-1TF
